London Swimming Championship 2016 Report
Fifteen swimmers represented Killerwhales at the 2016 London Swimming Championships held at the London Aquatic Centre and Crystal Palace from the 8th April until the 22nd May. In a very successful championship Killerwhales made it to twenty finals, achieved thirty one personal best times and took home three Bronze medals.
In the 11/12 year old category Noah Jameson-Neal competed in ten events, his best placed finish came in the longer disciplines. Noah swam a personal best time while breaking a 20 year old club record in the 400m Freestyle with a time of 4:58.41. Noah’s other best placed finishes came in the 1500m Freestyle in 19:59.10 and in the 400m IM with a time of 5:53.06. Cydnie Peterson competed in five events, Cydnie won a Bronze medal in a tightly contested 50m Butterfly final with a time of 31.95 while narrowly missing out on another medal in the 100m Butterfly with a time of 1:14.22. Joshua Frampton qualified for two events and achieved a PB in the 50m Backstroke in a time of 38.21 with Angus Robertson finishing with a time of 38.74 in the 50m Backstroke.
In the Thirteen year old category Sacha Thomas had a great championships making six finals from her seven events. Sacha won Bronze in the 200m Butterfly in 2:39.91 while just missing out on medals in the 100m Butterfly and 200m IM. Sacha placed 5th in the 200m Freestyle, 6th in the 100m Freestyle and seventh in the 50m Butterfly. Alister Cummins swam PB’s in the 50m Breaststroke in 39.32 and 1:27.99 in the 100m Breaststroke.
In the 14 year old category Sam Little swam in three events with his best placed finish being in the 50m Butterfly with a time of 31.04, with Jade Braybrooke making the final of the 100m Backstroke, finishing 7th with a time of 1:12.93.
Daniel Sida swam well in the 15 year old category making four finals from the five events he competed in. Daniel finished 5th in the 200m Backstroke in 2:31.63, 6th in the 100m Backstroke in 1:09.58 and achieved another 6th placed finish in the 50m Freestyle in 26.95. Harry Spencer finished 4th in a tough 1500m Freestyle event with a time of 18:08.78.
Lucie Davis finished 7th in the final of the 200m Butterfly with a PB of 2:40.68 while finishing with a times of 4.46:05 in the 400m Freestyle and 9:46.14 in the 800m Freestyle. Tilly Pearson made two finals with a 4th in the 200m Breaststroke in 2:51.93 and 6th in the 100 Breaststroke in 1:21.01. Haashim Hameed swam in the 50m Breaststroke, finishing with a time of 35.39.
In the seventeen years and over category Lisa Murphy made the finals of the 200m Freestyle finishing with a time of 2:14.50 and the 200m IM in 2:37.84. Toby Andrews competed in the 50m Freestyle finishing with a PB of 25.17.
