Sixty swimmers from Killerwhales competed in the David Jacobs Memorial Gala at the Basildon Sporting Village. Thirty-four swimmers achieved a total of 96 medals, 20 Golds, 40 Silvers and 36 Bronze, fifteen swimmers also achieved Essex Qualifying times for 2017.

Five swimmers competed in the nine year old age group, Ella Stevenson secured Gold in the 100m Freestyle with a time of 1:30.00, Ella followed this up with Silver in the 50m Freestyle and Bronze in the 100m Butterfly. Oghenekeiron Abadioru was victorious in the 100m Butterfly with a time of 1:45.79 while also taking Silver in the 100m IM and Bronze in the 100m Freestyle. Jude Nolan-Day won a Silver medal in the 100m IM with a time of 1:37.99, with Chloe Keegan achieving Silver in the same event in 1:42.99, both swimmers also took home three Bronze medals.


Nine swimmers in the ten year old age group scooped 27 medals, the top medal winner was Brooke Woodhouse with six. Brooke won Gold in the 50m Freestyle in 38.05, in the 50m Breaststroke in 46.25 followed up with three Silver medals and a Bronze. Zain Kadhim was placed in the top 3 in five events, his best finish coming in the 100m Freestyle in 1:24.66, the other events saw Zain achieve three Silver medals in the 50m Breaststroke, 100m Backstroke, 100m IM and a Bronze in the 50m Butterfly. Other Gold medallists in this age group were Eloise Sillett in the 100m IM in 1:45.74 and Omowumi Omosini in the 100m IM in 1:45.40. Fourteen other medals were won in this age group with Macy Huthwaite winning Silver in the 100m Freestyle in 1:20.28 and taking home four Bronze medals, Olivia Cooper with Two Silvers in the 50m Breaststroke in 47.48 and the 100m Freestyle in 1:26.11 and Ellie Willis with Silver in the 50m Freestyle in 40.28. Aidan Fourie rounded this off with Silver in the 100m Breaststroke in 1:43.52 and Two Bronze medals and Danny Moody taking home two Bronze medals in the 100m Backstroke and Breaststroke.

 

In the Eleven year category Angus Robertson won Gold in the 100m Backstroke in 1:22.23 and two Silvers in the 100m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle. Cerys Freeman scooped another Gold in the 100m IM in 1:28.51, following this up with Silver in the 50m Freestyle and Bronze in the 100m Freestyle. The medals didn’t stop there with Charlie Ovey adding to the flurry of silverware with Gold in the 50m Freestyle in 32.45 and Silver in the 50m Backstroke. Poppy Holmes doubled up with Silvers in the 100m Freestyle and 100m IM in, with Ellie Shanahan winning Bronze in the 100m Butterfly.


Four swimmers took home medals in the twelve year old age group. Cydnie Peterson won two Golds, the first coming in the 100m Freestyle in 1:07.50 followed up with a time of 31.52 in the 50m Freestyle, Cydnie also took home two Silver in the 50m Butterfly and Bronze in the 100m IM and 50m Backstroke. Joshua Frampton done well by securing Silvers in the 50m Breaststroke and in the 100m Backstroke accompanied by three Bronze medals, with Aliyah Ahmed winning a Silver medal in the 100m Butterfly in 1:43.89. Noah Jameson-Neal completed the medal haul in this age group with Gold in the 100m Freestyle in 1:07.82, Silver in the 100m IM and Bronze in the 100m Butterfly.


In the thirteen year old age group Allister Cummins took home Gold in the 100m Freestyle in 1:05.72 and four Silver medals, with Charlie Brewster taking home three Silver medals in the 50m Freestyle, the 50m and 100m Butterfly as well as Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke in 1:29.52.

 

Fourteen year old Jade Braybrooke took a hat-trick of Gold medals by winning the 100m Freestyle in 1:05.48, the 50m Butterfly in 35.17 and the 100m IM in 1:17.92. Francesca Thomas won Gold in the 50m Butterfly in 31.83 and Silver in the 50m Freestyle, with Sam Little winning Silver in the 100m Backstroke and two other Bronze medals.


Fifteen year old Daniel Sida picked up two Bronze medals in the 50m Butterfly and Freestyle events, Haashim Hameed won Gold in the 100m Freestyle in 58.6 and Silver in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke events. Tilly Pearson went home with Silvers in the 50m Breaststroke and 50m Backstroke events, with Brianna Cummins securing Gold in the 50m Butterfly. Harry Spencer rounded off the medals with Bronze in the 100m Backstroke.
