Fifty swimmers from Killerwhales travelled to the London Aquatic Centre for their first Gala of the new season to compete in Waltham Forests 2016 Autumn Meet. KWSC achieved a total of 98 medals, 42 Golds, 29 Silvers and 27 Bronze medals as well 10 Essex 2017 qualifying times.

Nine medals were won in the nine year old category. Ella Stevenson took home two Golds with the first coming in the 100m Backstroke in 1:42.04, the second in the 200m IM in 3:41.72. Other Gold medalists in this age group were Charlie Woodhouse in the 200m Freestyle in a time of 3:39.79 and Keiron Abadiouru in the 200m Butterfly in 4:19.99. Three swimmers picked up medals in the ten year old category with Macy Huthwaite achieving six in total, Macy’s best placed finish came in the 100m Butterfly with Gold in 1:32.65, Macy also picked up Silver in the 50m Freestyle. Olivia Cooper won Gold in the 200m Breaststroke with a time of 3:45.05, with Zain Kadhim winning Gold in the 100m Backstroke in 1:36.46.

The star of the eleven year old category was Angus Robertson who won an impressive six gold medals from his six races. The standout performances for Angus came in the 200m Freestyle with a time of 2:34.79, the 100m Breaststroke in 1:35.99 and the 200m Breaststroke in 3:23.93. Cerys Freeman won three medals with the best finish being in the 100m Freestyle with a time of 1:15.79, Cerys also won Silver in the 200m Freestyle. Ellie Shanahan swum a solid 50m Freestyle race winning Gold in 33.13 while following it up with Silver in the 200m Butterfly in 3:16.98. Other Silver medalists in this category were Charlie Ovey in the 50m Freestyle, Dylan Wood in the 200m Freestyle, Joshua Humphreys in the 200m Backstroke, Odafe Abadiouru in the 200m Butterfly and Poppy Holmes in 100m Backstroke.

Fifteen medals were won in the twelve year old category, Cydnie Peterson picked up a Gold in the 200m Backstroke with a time of 2:50.21 and a Silver in the 200m IM. Grace Bennett took home Gold in the 200m Butterfly in 3:52.49, with Joshua Frampton finishing in Silver medal place in the 100m Breaststroke in 1:36.07. Noah Jameson-Neal achieved six medals in total with his best finish coming in the 200m IM in 2:45.21, Noah followed this up with three Silvers in the 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 200m Breaststroke. In the 13 year old category Madeleine Sida had a great day picking up three Gold medals in the 100m Backstroke in 1:22.33, in the 200m Backstroke in 2:57.65 and the 200m Freestyle in 2:32.14. Alister Cummins swum a superb 100m Breaststroke with a Gold and a great time of 1:21.73, with Katie Elsworth taking home Silver in the 200m Butterfly with a time of 3:41.86.

Two swimmers competed in the 14 year old category accumulating nine medals in total, Francesca Thomas won three Gold medals in the 100m Breaststroke in 1:30.23, in the 200m Freestyle in 2:28.23 and the 100m Freestyle in 1:09.75. Jade Braybrooke matched this with three more Gold’s, the first in the 100m Butterfly in 1:15.63 followed by the 200m IM in 2:40.74 and the 200m Butterfly in 2:48.22.

In the 15 year old category Harry Spencer won a total of six medals, four Golds in the 100m Backstroke in 1:17.88, the 100m Freestyle in 1:02.13, the 200 Freestyle in 2:10.79 and the 200m Butterfly in 2:36.19. Lucie Davis also won four Gold medals in the 100m Breaststroke in 1:30.44, the 100m Butterfly in 1:15.06, the 200m Freestyle in 2:20.62 and the 200m IM in 2:40.77. Yasmin Kadhim also had a good day picking up a trio of Gold medals in the 100m Backstroke in 1:17.64, the 200m Backstroke in 2:46.88 and in the 200m Butterfly in 3:07.25. Other Gold medalists in this category were Calvin Gowers who picked up a Gold medal in the 100m Butterfly, Daniel Sida in the 200m Breaststroke, and Katie Fitzwater in the 100m Freestyle. In the sixteen year old category Brianna Cummins picked up a Silver medal in the 200m IM with a time of 2:55.42.
