Bracknell and Wokingham’s Level 3 Spring Open Meet Report
Thirty Swimmers travelled to Aldershot to compete in Bracknell and Wokingham’s Level 3 Spring Open Meet. Buoyed from their achievements in the 2017 Essex County Championships Killerwhales were looking for more success in the pool, they certainly achieved this with a total of forty-four medals, nineteen of which were Gold, and nine London Regional qualifying and consideration times.
In the ten year old age group Samuel Setford won a total of five medals, three of which were Gold. As well capturing Gold in the 50m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle Samuel won Silver in the 200m Breaststroke while finishing in place in the 50m Breaststroke. Harry Pengally also picked up a Gold medal in the 100m Breaststroke and a Bronze in the 50m Backstroke.
Macy Huthwaite and Olivia Cooper made it very exciting again in the eleven year old age group sharing a total of 10 medals between them. Macy overcame Olivia by a fingertip in the 50m Breaststroke snatching Gold with a time of 45.63. Macy added to her Gold flurry in the 100m Butterfly, the 200 Individual Medley and the 50m Freestyle. Olivia reversed her fortunes by out swimming Macy in the 200m Breaststroke with a time of 3:30.54. Olivia added to her Gold tally with another one in the 100m Freestyle. Other medal winners in this age group were Rhys Penfold with Silver in the 100m Butterfly and Bronze in the 50m Butterfly and 200m Freestyle, and Zain Kadhim who narrowly beat Rhys in the 200m Freestyle to take home a well-earned Silver medal.
Maisie Lawn swam a very strong race in the 50m Butterfly which earned Maisie Gold and a qualifying time for the London Regionals of 35.03. Noah Jameson Neal continued his good form with another very successful meet, Noah achieved a total of six Gold medals, a Silver medal, a Bronze medal and five London Regional qualifying times and a consideration time. Cydnie Peterson earned a pair of medals, Silver in the 100m Freestyle in 1:08.36 and Bronze in the 100m Backstroke.
Rianna Jary swam well in the fourteen year old age group finishing with two Gold medals, the first in the 200m Individual Medley in 2:50.09, and the second in the 200m Freestyle in 2:29.71.
In the fifteen year and over age group Brianna Cummins swam well to achieve London Regional consideration times and two Silver medals in the 100m and 200m Butterfly events. Brianna followed this up with yet another Silver medal in the 50m Butterfly. Haashim Hameed finished with Silver and another London Regional qualifying time in the 50m Freestyle in 27.19, with Bronze medals also coming in the 100m Freestyle and the 50m Breaststroke. Jade Braybrooke rounded off the medals with two Silvers in the 200m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke, followed by Bronze in the 200m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley.
Killerwhales will now prepare for their next Gala when they travel to Colchester on the 9th April to compete in Halstead Swimming Clubs Open Meet.
